After being taken over by the Reich Ministry for Popular Enlightenment and Propaganda, the study was incorporated into the "Collection of Drawings". This collection of oil sketches, watercolors and drawings from the predominantly 19th and early 20th century had been established as a separate department of the National Gallery with a transfer from the former Royal Museum of Prints and Drawings in 1878. This collection has only been part of the Kupferstichkabinett again since 1992.
